My interest in wedding coordination
and party planning began when I was around seventeen years of age. As
I attended showers, weddings and receptions I would continually make
mental notes on the dos and don’ts of a great wedding or celebration. I
loved the thrill of watching a new couple embark on the journey of
marriage and as a teenager I would spend countless hours pouring
over Bridal books and magazines.
Of course when the movie, “The
Wedding Planner” was released I was in Heaven. “That’s
it!” I thought to myself, “That’s what I
would want to be doing! There is nothing I would enjoy more
than helping to design and coordinate a wedding day that any Bride
would be proud to call her own.”
I don’t know that
I could ever tire of weddings and all the planning that it takes
to create such a special day. There is not a wedding yet that
I have not shed a tear over and at the rate I am going there probably
never will be.
I was born in Dallas, Texas
in 1984. When I was six months old my parents packed me up and moved
back to College Station. (they had lived there before and came back for my
Father to pursue Aerospace engineering at A&M University) I was raised
in the Bryan/College Station area and when I was just 18 years old I married
my childhood sweet heart whom I have know since age five.
As soon as
we were married we moved to Dallas for my husband to attend “Dallas Sound
Lab” and pursue a career in Audio Engineering. I let my thoughts
of wedding planning go at the time and worked as a vet technician while he
went to school and pursued his music and audio dreams. Two years later,
and with a six month old, baby girl, we moved back to College Station.
We
missed our families and had had enough of the big city. I was now a stay
at home mother and loving every minute of it. Every once in a while the
thoughts of planning weddings would pop back into my head but I usually pushed
them aside telling myself that I was too busy with a baby and did not have
the time and effort that it would take to pursue coordinating as a career.
We
bounced around from house to house when we first moved back to College Station
but once we were settled permanetly in our own home and routine I really began
to think about starting my own business. When I first started putting
it all down on paper I became easily overwhelmed at all the aspects of starting
your own business and once again set it aside.
I now know that it was
because I was trying to start my business on to big of a scale. Six months
later I sat back down and began looking at the figures for starting the business
from my home on a much smaller scale. It could work!
I talked with
my husband and showed him the figures, he gave me the go ahead. It was
time to start growing my business. I made business cards, brochures,
bought a website and a P.O. box.
I began spreading the news by word of
mouth and the world wide web. I now had a business that I loved and was
able to pursue without giving up the dream and joy of staying home with my
children. It has taken some effort and hard work to get to where I am
but I now own my own small business and love every minute of it. I hope
that you will allow me to help you make your dreams come true. Nothing is impossible!
